A vacuum Interrupter is a type of circuit breaker in which the arc is quenched in vacuum. The technology is primarily intended for use with medium voltage systems. Vacuum technology for greater voltages has been developed, however it is not commercially practical.It is substantially less harmful to the environment than an SF6 circuit breaker. Vacuum Interrupter has a substantially longer service life than other circuit breakers. There is no risk of fire, as there is with an oil circuit breaker. Aside from that, VCB contraction is simple.
